Driftwood is a sailing program based in Toronto which uses little traditional wooden sail boats to provide an unadorned sailing experience that reduces sail to its basic components: the interaction of wind, water, canvas and wood. By focusing on the basic elements of sail the driftwood program offers a clear vision and understanding of the concept of sailing.

We offer programs that focus on creating a fun, exciting and memorable experience while offering the highest quality sailing instruction and programming. Our programs are taught by experienced sailors who have logged thousands of sea miles aboard traditional sailing ships and have the skills necessary to deliver our program in a fun and engaging manner. We focus on the creation of a positive learning environment that allows sailors to relax and enjoy the experience. We offer programming for everyone from the timid and soft hearted lubber to the weathered old hand - and everyone in between.

In addition to our waterborne activities we offer a range of courses related to traditional sail and seamanship which cover topics from knot tying to sail making to wooden boat carpentry, traditional navigation and beyond.

Our operations are sustainable and our boats are engineless and biodegradable, meaning that we have almost no negative impact on our water resources, which to us is important. We are also actively involved in community outreach programs and believe in fair wages and hiring policies.
